NO HUG, ONLY FIGHT
Just then Mulayam Singh said that he has received a letter from an MLA saying that the minorities were drifting away from the government. At this, Akhilesh marched angrily towards his father and grabbed the mike from him and shouted that the letter was forged and written at Amar Singh's behest.
Uncle Shivpal immediately contested the claim and the two leaders kept grabbing the mike from the other even as a stunned Mulayam looked on helplessly. Soon, the supporters of both the leaders began moving menacingly towards the stage at which point the meeting was abruptly ended.
CHARGES AND COUNTER CHARGES
Unprecedented scenes were witnessed at the meeting with both Akhilesh and Shivpal delivering impassioned speeches and openly levelling charges against each other. On one stage it was Shivpal saying that the chief minister has told him that he is going to form his own party. At another stage Chief Minister Akhilesh Yadav accused his uncle of conspiring against him.

Despite all the animosity it seemed at one point that Mulayam had succeded in bringing about a rapprochement by getting Akhilesh and Shivpal to hug each other. However, within minutes after the SP chief talking about the letter from the MLA, the meeting descended into chaos.
MULAYAM STANDS BY BROTHER
A significant feature of the SP chief's speech was his wholehearted support to 'brother' Amar Singh and Shivpal Yadav. Mulayam Singh went on to say that it was Amar Singh who helped keep him and the current chief minister out of the jail in the disproportionate assets case. "I'm not an ungrateful person. I cannot and will not leave him (Amar Singh)," Mulayam said.
