A RECEPTION was held onboard the Indonesian warship KRI Usman Harun-359 to mark the completion of a joint exercise — codenamed Helang Laut 17B — with the Royal Brunei Navy.
It was the 17th joint naval exercise between the two navies.
Commanding officer of KRI Usman Harun-359, Navy Colonel (P) Alan Dahlan, in his welcome remarks, expressed his gratitude for the successful completion of the joint exercise.
Present as the guest of honour was Deputy Minister of Defence First Admiral (Rtd) Dato Seri Pahlawan Abdul Aziz Hj Mohd Tamit.
The warship’s commanding officer also presented a token of appreciation to the deputy minister.
Later, the attendees witnessed a traditional Indonesian dance performed by its crew members.
Also present at the ceremony was the commander of the Royal Brunei Armed Forces and the Indonesian ambassador to Brunei.
KRI Usman Harun-359 arrived in Brunei with KRI Terapang-648 last week.
Both warships carried a total of 120 sailors from the country’s Eastern Region Fleet naval base in Surabaya, East Java.
