Prime Minister Sheikh Hasina has returned after a two-day India visit where she attended the BRICS-BIMSTEC outreach summit.The special Biman Bangladesh flight carrying her left the Indian state of Goa just after 7am local time.
It landed at Dhaka's Shahjalal International Airport around 10:30am.
Hasina was seen off by India's Minister of State for External Affairs MJ Akbar, Goa's Science, Technology and Environment Minister Alina Saldanha.
The Indian envoy in Dhaka Harsh Vardhan Shringla and the Bangladesh High Commissioner to India Syed Muazzem Ali were also present.
On her arrival in Goa on Sunday, the prime minister attended a luncheon hosted by Goa Chief Minister Laxmikant Parsekar in honour of the BIMSTEC leaders.
Before attending the summit she also participated in a retreat for the BIMSTEC leaders. There she participated in talks about a free trade agreement between the BIMSTEC countries.
The BRICS-BIMSTEC outreach summit was held on Sunday night.
During the summit the prime minister called on the BRICS countries to establish an infrastructure development fund for the BIMSTEC countries and provide institutional support for innovations in science and technology.
She also stressed the importance of cooperation between the two groups to promote sustainable development and urged leaders to stand firm against the threat of religious extremism and militancy.
Hasina also engaged in bilateral talks with her Indian counterpart Narendra Modi.
The leaders of the two countries reaffirmed their commitment to cooperate for development.
