Donald Trump Jr. made a strong case for the saying "the apple doesn't fall far from the tree" in an uncovered radio interview from 2013. Speaking on an episode of The Opie and Anthony Show, Donald Trump Jr. echoed his father's demeaning sentiment about women and perpetuated tired gender norms.
In the interview released by Buzzfeed, Trump Jr. talks about what he and his father might define as locker room talk, lamenting that women might be allowed in male-only golf clubs — but he takes it a step further and brings it to the workplace. "If you can't handle some of the basic stuff that's become a problem in the workforce today, then you don't belong in the workforce," Trump Jr. said, "Like, you should go maybe teach kindergarten. I think it's a respectable position."
Essentially, Trump Jr. attempts to claim that women who can't handle unwanted sexual commentary are not fit for powerful positions. "You can't be negotiating billion-dollar deals if you can't handle, like, you know," Trump Jr. added, apparently referring to the same "locker room banter" that his father repeatedly uses as an excuse for his misogynistic behavior. Though unsurprising, this conversation is further proof that Donald Trump and his sons have a fundamental lack of respect for women.
