Loobobilly China News- China denounces Slovakian president's meeting with Dalai Lama

China recently addressed its firm opposition of the choice of Slovakian President AndrejKiska to meet with the visiting Dalai Lama.

China's Ministry of Foreign Affairs said on Oct. 17 that China is opposed to officials fromany country engaging with the Dalai Lama in any form, as he has long been engaged inanti-China separatist activities, conspiring to sever Tibet from China.

China said the actions of Kiska were in violation of the "One China" policy that Slovakiapledged to uphold, according to Hua Chunying, spokesperson of China's Ministry ofForeign Affairs, at a press conference.

A post on Kiska's Facebook page on Oct. 16 included pictures of the meeting, as well as anote from the president describing it as a "privilege," Reuters reported.

"The Slovakian president undermined China’s core interests and sabotaged the politicalfoundation for China-Slovakia relations," said Hua.

China urges the Slovakian side to see through the anti-China separatist nature of the Dalaiclan, to respect China’s core interests, to hold fast to the One China policy, and to takeeffective measures to prevent fallout from this damaging act so that China-Slovakiarelations can resume sound, steady development.
