The Department of Science and Technology (DST), Government of India, and Global Venture Alliance (GVA) have sponsored the ‘India Russia Bridge for Innovations’ (IRBI) which will see the participation of 10 innovative startups from across India.
The bilateral entrepreneur exchange/accelerator programme will take place in Moscow and will be coordinated by IIT-B’s Society for Innovation and Entrepreneurship (SINE) in Mumbai and Global Venture Alliance (GVA) in Moscow in the second half of September this year.
The selected startups are in the areas of medical devices and applications, energy, IoT,edtech, and retail tech. A first-of-its-kind initiative between Russia and India, it will focus on science- and technology-based entrepreneurship.
Experts in Russia will hand-hold the entrepreneurs in terms of finding partners and clients and testing their products in the local market through a collaborative ecosystem.

Russia’s Deputy Prime Minister Dmitry Rogozin and his Indian counterpart Sushma Swaraj met on September 13 in New Delhi at the 22nd session of the Indo-Russian Intergovernmental Commission on Trade, Economic, Scientific, Technological and Cultural Cooperation (IRIGC-TEC).
The meeting witnessed discussions on various topics including bilateral trade to reach the $30 billion goal. A statement by DST-GVA said, “Officials and entrepreneurs in both India and Russia have been eager to make the ambitious commitment of increasing the bilateral trade threefold in the next decade a reality. Programmes such as the IRBI will go a long way in sparking a strong bilateral economic tie in innovation and entrepreneurship between the two nations.”
The partnerships and collaborations between the two countries are anticipated to augmentbilateral trade across the nations and fulfil the goals of national initiatives like Start-Up India, Make in India, and Digital India.
